March
In sharing the meaning and changes of the Months, it is my hope that it plants seeds of awareness, that the calendar we currently live by is only a marking tool for mankind. It is not a true reflection of our planets natural calendar. Remember we are part of nature not apart from nature.
I am curious, did you know March was once the FIRST month of the calendar, and the time for the resumption of war?
March in Latin is Martius, meaning 'of Mars'. And Mars interestingly enough is named after the Roman God for war and identified with the Greek God 'Ares'.
The reason for the resumption of war is that the Northern Hemisphere was just coming out of the peak of winter and our calendar originated in the Northern Hemisphere.
Welcome to March 2024
In my world, February is the beginning of Autumn, and the Autumn Equinox on the 21st March is the peak of Autumn, and from that day and night of equal balance we tilt towards the depths of winter.
But February decided to go out with a bang and be the hottest month than all of summer. Seems that regardless of what we humans decide, Mother Earth and Grandfather Sun have the final say.
The weeks seem to be flying by and days merging into the next and events coming around at such speed, I'm grateful I have a diary to keep up with where I am at.
I have felt particularly stirred this year, like something deep is making it's way to the surface... both fascinating and very exciting to see where it all leads me. What I also found interesting, are my words from March last year, from the year before that, and probably the year before that....
"An internal battle for peace.
It is time to face our fears head-on, move fear out of the drivers seat, the fear that has been your basis for your decisions, choices and actions for way too long. Challenge those negative thoughts, even question positive ones to see how truly authentic they are! Why not let go of what you 'believe' for a little while and entertain the idea that you many not have all the answers and your perception could be clouded. And when those moments of letting go happen, it's an opportunity to sow seeds that will blossom into new perspectives, personal truths and direction."
What I would like to add to those moments of letting go is: change (obviously), non-attachment, neutrality, brutal honesty and courage. It is in those moments of being stirred that makes the difference. It is the telling moment of what you choose to do with the stirrings that will either step you up or step you off.
Humanity is at yet another cross-point... mature, spiritually mature or keep repeating.
Humanity (which is you, me, the next door neighbour, your brother, your sister, your lover, your friend) is going to be continually challenged from here on in, to either keep stepping up or step off.
I'm a 'step-up' kind of woman, a woman on a mission for a purpose, yet even when I'm yelling at spirit to make the emotional and the mental disturbances stop... I know it is not spirit but me, and I am only a choice away from peace, love and harmony.
So my encouragement to you is to stay grounded, stay connected, stay humble, stay curious, stay courageous, as much as you possibly can and then some, so you, your loved ones and the collective, has a chance of shifting timelines.
Blessings,
Mim
xx
Ace of Cups - March Tarot
Key Word: Feelings
Element: Water
Plane: Emotional
Area: Relationships
The symbol of the Cup has always been associated with the heart, for the fluid which it contains is the fluid world of EMOTION/FEELING. Whether this is the clear water of Spiritual Love or the blood-red wine of passion, the Cup from which we drink is the vessel through which we experience relationships.
Cups are the feeling or bridge between the original idea (Wands) and the next stage, which is action (Swords). Cups helps develop manifesting, the link between thought and feeling.
Cups are associated with EMOTION, DESIRE, INNER EXPERIENCE and SPIRIT and the element of WATER.
Ace of Cups ~ Emotional Fulfilment, Start of a Relationship, Love
Marks a fresh start in your emotional life. It may mark the beginning of a new relationship or a new stage in an existing one.
Ready now to take an opportunity and go with it. Entering a period that is rich with possibilities.
Indicates a time of abundance. Engagement, marriage, or the birth of a child, positive beginnings of an emotional nature. If your creativity has laid dormant or unaware of it now is the time to discover it.
Introduction: The Ace of Cups is a very powerful, positive omen relating to love, happiness, and affection. Like all the aces though, it is about new beginnings and although it usually means love it can indicate new beginnings in other areas of life.
General: Things are looking up! In general, people will respond to you with happiness, love, and goodwill, more than usually in the near future. You should be feeling good about life in general. This is a great time to make friends.
Work: This can signify a promotion and/or new, good job headed your way. If you are already employed you should know that both you and your work are appreciated and valued - and you should see signs of this soon. If you are unemployed (or looking for a new job) then you need to keep looking for new opportunities. They are out there - all you have to do is find them.
Love: Again, this is an excellent omen regarding love; either an existing relationship is going to take a turn for the better. Indeed for an existing relationship this could be a deeper level of understanding, or commitment, or almost any important aspect of a relationship. It will feel almost like a new and encouraging start. If you are as yet uncommitted, a new relationship is likely to appear soon.
Finances: This augurs good possibility for money, in the context of "something new." It could mean that you will find a new job if you are looking for work, or some extra work on the side that you could do if you are already working, or even that you will be given a gift of some money to help you out. Definitely, again, good news.
Health: Your health is likely to take a turn for the better; you should be feeling healthy and full of energy.
Spirituality: The Ace of Cups shows a need for you to "give back" some of the love that you have been given in life/that you are experiencing. This is also a connection to the divine….on a spiritual level, meditate on the idea that you are a beloved child of the universe, and feel the support that comes to you "from the other side," as it is always there, all you have to do is look for it.
Daffodil - March Flower
The daffodil symbolises new beginnings and rebirth. It’s the flower of second chances, of new opportunities. It’s the symbol of hope. In a religious context, the daffodil is associated with Lent, often called the “Lent Lily”, because they are usually seen for the first time between the days of Ash Wednesday and Easter.
In Ancient Greece, the daffodil was also called Narcissus . It was named after the son of a Greek river god who was said to be beautiful, but arrogant. Legend has it that Narcissus died by falling in a river when he became mesmerized by his own reflection. It is from this story that we get the name for the personality disorder Narcissism.
They are also said to be a symbol of good news. Legend wants that this specific “bearer of good news” meaning comes from their trumpet-like shape. They are said to be flowers that alert the world of springtime’s arrival and good things to come.
When used in the context of a relationship, daffodils symbolize broken love. They are to be given as a form of condolence or a farewell to someone that you once loved. They are also a symbol of unrequited love and can be given from one person to another in order to communicate those feelings.
Daffodils have a meaning just about as complex as their shape. They are short-lived flowers that must be taken advantage of when the time is right, or they will be missed.
Aquamarine - March Birth Stone
Mind: Helps banish fears and phobias. Clarifies thoughts. Aids creative self expression.
Body: Reduces fluid retention. Good for thyroid gland, liver, kidneys and spleen.
Spirit: Excellent for meditation. Inspires and calms. Gives a clear vision of one's life path. Helps one get in touch with their spiritual being and excellent for the throat chakra.
Aquamarine helps balance excessive anger or fear. It can also assist in clearing past emotional, physical, or verbal abuse. It is an excellent stone for children who have been through traumatic situations and acting out aggressively or those who have disassociated from their emotional bodies. It heals the effects of over-judgmental parents who set impossible standards and panic attacks lingering from guilt and inadequacy into adulthood. Aquamarine is useful for moving through transition and change. Its cleansing energy removes resistance and helps you overcome the fear of the unknown. It helps not only in the release of emotional baggage but also in the clearing of physical items and clutter.
Aquamarine is a stone of empowerment for men and women alike. It helps in the realisation that not all power comes from force. There is also power in aligning with the yielding, resilient vitality of life, and in promoting truthful and compassionate communication.
It lends women the courage to express their inner knowledge, enhances their intuitive abilities, and helps dispel the emotional numbness and difficulty men sometimes experience in communicating their feelings.
Aquamarine can be used as a gateway crystal to the Divine Feminine, both within the self and in Her outer manifestations.
Platypus - March Spirit Animal
Key word for Platypus is Self-Acceptance.
Obviously due to the physical nature of Platypus, it has ‘uniqueness’ as a foundation energy signature.
Platypus assists in learning to accept ourselves as we are, behind all the conditioning.
Platypus teaches us self-acceptance and self-love, helping us not to abandon ourselves and staying true to who we are.
Calling on Platypus Medicine leads to honouring your feelings as well as embodying a strong sense of your own personal rhythms, which helps bring us peace and balance.
The Shadow Aspects:
Being overly concerned about, or fear of not fitting in, and a strong desire to appear normal. Reviling the idea of being controversial, looking different, or being marginalised to a less popular section of society. Being constantly confronted with the harsh questions of what normalcy is, and what it means to be different or the same. These lessons can be incredibly difficult, and bring up problems relating to self-esteem and peer groups.
