May 2024 ~ Tarot, Flower, Crystal and Spirit Animal

In sharing the meaning and changes of the Months, it is my hope that it plants seeds of awareness, that the calendar we currently live by is only a marking tool for mankind. It is not a true reflection of our planets natural calendar. Remember we are part of nature not apart from nature.

May is the fifth month of the year in both the Julian and Gregorian calendars. May is the third of the seven months that have 31 days.

May in Latin is Maius, named for the Greek Goddess Maia. Maia in ancient Greek religion, is one of the Pleiades and the mother of Hermes by Zeus.

Beginning of May is also midway point between the Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice which in turn marks it the beginning of Winter.

I also just learned that May is also the Month for Mary. Interestingly during ceremony last weekend 30th April/1st May, her presence was strongly felt which created a protective field around us filled with love and déjà vu.

Welcome to May 2024

From the 1st May to 21st June we are in the Winter process of refining and defining.

Refining and defining who we truly are behind the pain of childhood wounding/patterning.

Refining and defining what we would like to experience in the days to come.

Refining and defining how we can be of service to assist in humanities conscious re-evolution.

Refining and defining from within the deep void of not knowing.

Winter ~ is the time when what we have sown, we have reaped and harvested. No more can be done. Time to stop looking back, stop keeping track and surrender to what is. We take stock of what we did, we let go of what we didn’t, and sit in the space of what is here.

Samhuinn ~ Summers End, is considered a time of change, a transitioning from one way of living to another. From a sunlit outdoor life to a time where light and warmth is to be found by the hearth. This is the time of transition. Where normal reality is disturbed as the earth moves through a 'joint' in time. Chaos is felt. Supernatural powers are seen to break through the 'joints' between the two great seasons of the year. Samhuinn as Winter begins, and Beltane as Summer begins. Samhuinn is the time where the veil which divides subtle realms and worlds is thinnest. It is also a time for divination, as the subtle realms ~ the realms of spirit, intuition, higher awareness & senses ~ are closer at hand to guide the seer. If only we remember to connect and listen.

In some ancient traditions, this time was seen as the ‘new’ year. And, as with all beginnings there to is an ending, a letting go of what was to make room for what is to come. Winter is when we dream of those seeds of change we have been tuning in to; we begin to set-up the blue-print of our life for ourselves, each year, each cycle beginning with Winter.

When considering celebrating this time, take some time and connect to honour the ancestors and loved ones who have passed on before you. Say goodbye to the old and prepare for the new. Create a sacred fire and release into the flames grievances and blessings from the past year.

Wombat - May Spirit Animal

Key word for Wombat is Inner-Trust.

Wombat energy is grounded by default, putting you in a perfect position to educate others about who you are, and what you're good at. Wombat energy is not a flighty energy, nor is it prone to exaggeration. You know what you are and what you are good at.

Wombat assists with lessons of creating and introducing structure into your life. It could be literally - a home or a place to live. But more usually, it tends to be psychologically or emotionally.

Wombat can draw your attention to the foundation of your situation or problem, and then provides the ability to understand multiple levels of it at once which will assist in implementing solutions.

Wombat will also show us how to relax through light-hearted play.

Wombat energy can also indicate a situation where you are being underestimated or undervalued by society and the people around you. But just because some cannot see your value does not mean it is not there. The wombat's shadow energy challenges us to never stop trying, even though we know that we are being undervalued or underappreciated.

So it might come as a surprise then that wombat energy also teaches righteous or appropriate aggression. Sometimes it is right, even healthy, to defend yourself and your position. Wombat will also help us see our motives in educating others, and advocates inner trust and wisdom. Sometimes it is better to let others keep their prejudices so that we may focus on our own gifts.

Wombat will also not be backward in coming forward and give you the odd metaphorical slap around the head if you are lax about recognising your own problems or alternatively, your gifts.

Time to step up and call things as they are.

The Shadow Aspects:

The wombat's shadow energy challenges us to never stop trying, even though we know that we are being undervalued or underappreciated. Once we stop trying, we validate what others may think or say about us. Wombat encourages us to never give up, and confronts us with choices to either persevere throughout our lives and show our trust within our own talent, or to give into the despair created by other's inappropriate criticism of our efforts. In any society, it is important to educate others about misunderstandings and biases. This is something you may feel you do regularly, but with poor results. You may be frequently attempting to educate others about religious or spiritual beliefs, proper health practices, or anything else that is important to you. Wombat confronts our motives in educating others, and advocates inner trust and wisdom. Sometimes it is better to let others keep their prejudices so that we may focus on our own gifts which lean more towards the creation of structure, than towards educating others.
